Why are some channel paid in Tata Sky but FTA in Dish TV?

Don't know if its the correct place to ask but why some channels especially news channels are paid in Tata Sky like NDTV and Aaj Tak but are FTA in Dish TV? Also, I have noticed that Dish TV uses DD free dish transponders for these channels. Any insight?

As per TRAI DTH companies can charge you lower than the MRP decided. Tata Sky charges the same price as decided by bradcasters and same price is also visible on TRAI website.
There may be some type of agreement between those channels and Dish TV that's why you are getting them for free.
