‘UPDATE NEWS’ gets I&B Ministry to operate a satellite TV channel

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has given its nod to ‘UPDATE NEWS’ to operate its satellite TV channel. The satellite TV channel license has been granted yesterday by the Ministry which will be valid for 10 years.

The license is held by Chennai-based KCP Engineers Private Limited which is involved in construction work. The company has been given the nod to operate a TV channel under the ‘NEWS’ category in the ‘Tamil’ language. ‘UPDATE NEWS’ will be available through Intelsat 17 and use the teleport services of Tata Communications.

The Ministry recently gave the nod to US Broadcast India to operate a TV channel under ‘NEWS’ category under’ ARGUS‘ name which is likely to be a Odia News channel with the channel already having a 24*7 web news channel currently.
