Those not willing to upgrade please hold on, i guess airtel will give smart stick free for certain mobile or dth plans. Also each xstream subscription plan can be linked to 3 sticks hence even if there is some friend or relative of urs who does not have airtel connection , they can buy smart stick and access all content using ur log in details

so currently, you need an active DTH account even for the stick to work?

Thank you @k2max6 for this review & help answering all the queries by everyone...I am using a DishTruHD connection & decided to switch to AirTel Xtream after reading this entire thread only...

I am not sure where should I buy it from though...Flipkart & Amazon have it listed @3999 but the Official AirTel site says
Rs. 3108/- ??

Can you Please let me know the total cost including everything from purchase till installation ?? @k2max6

I just called Airtel support & they are telling that, the above pricing (i.e Rs. 3108/-) is showing wrong on their site & they are not giving any free 1 month HD pack with their box...

So, I'm kinda confused about the pricing & the pack...If the First month Free HD pack is only available through Amazon & Flipkart, then I will be buying from them instead of buying directly from AirTel...Your help will be highly appreciated...

Wait till coming festive season. Amazon/Flipkart generally offer some discounts during festivals, besides cash back on payments through certain Bank Cards.

I'm not buying right now...I have an active DishTV plan which will end on 28th of this month...Then I will switch to AirTel...And yes both FLipkart & Amazon will be giving discounts on cards in October/November...Currently both AZ & FK are providing 5% cashback on HDFC debit cards (so flat 200/- cashback is available right now on both AZ & FK) but in Oct/Nov, I think they may also provide 10% discount...

I will have to buy it at the end of this month or in the first week of next month anyways as I won't be recharging my DishTV...

Buy it through airtel cc/site rather than amazon and flipkart and select pay on delivery. Its faster and reliable. You’ll get what ever is a part of the offer. Not sure on the free one month pack since I upgraded. BTW airtel site now seems fixed and showing Rs.3,999/-
You can get a discount of 200 of you pay via the airtel app. If you want to wait for the sales you can wait.

I am comfortable in paying by card actually & I am buying stuffs online since like last 15 years...So, it's not a problem for me...I called AirTel CC again now & they still couldn't confirm about the first month free HD pack...Currently I can get a flat cashback of 200 from both AZ & FK on the HDFC debit card offer plus they are clearly mentioning about the free 1 month HD pack...Also I'm in Kolkata, so delivery would be faster too...On Amazon, it's showing delivery by 13th if order placed now...I would only order directly if the AirTel CC would have been knowledgeable about the plan I will get with the installation...Sometimes they are saying that, I will have to purchase a 153 rupees plan alongwith the box & when I am asking them what about the free 1 month HD plan ?? Then they are putting my call on hold & after coming back they are saying that, yes you will get first month free HD pack...Since they are not properly aware about the entire package, I would rather buy from AZ/FK because they are mentioning everything clearly...The offer is still on, on both the sites but a 5% cashback which will expire on 30th of this month...

Plus, DTH connections are never shipped/couriered by sites....You can just book the items online by paying in advance...After receiving the order on the sites, AZ/FK will ask the local Airtel DTH service center to get the connection done that's why it's same & fast like booking directly from the company...It's the same for all sites & DTH providers...

So, I will wait till like 29th of this month & if no better offer comes until then, I will go with the 5% cashback offer as rupees 200 savings is not bad either...

P.S. I am still seeing the pricing as 3108/- both on the desktop as well as mobile version...

yes price is still ₹3108. Prefer Xstream stick if you think your DTH service provider is better than Airtel DTH... Airtel DTH subscriber can go for upgrade.. A small price change can be seen in festival season... example upgrade at ₹1999 or ₹1799 with Extra 10% Cashback offer from Airtel bank offer.
