ESPN may be renamed Star Sports 1 or 3

Star Sports will phase out the ESPN brand over the next 12-18 months, Star India chief operating officer Sanjay Gupta said. The channels may be renamed “Star Sports 1 or Star Sports 3, since we have already launched a new channel as Star Sports 2,” he said.

It is all the magic of digitization, now broadcaster can really make profit through subscription. And can rely less on ads. When full India will get digitized, I bet we will see so many new channels.

Agree...and digitisation will also help TV channels to reach out to more people with better quality digital (and HD) picture & audio because of superior technology used.

The whole experience of TV viewing is going to change in the next few years.
