They have huge subscribers because 60% comes from mobile bundle. That's why their ARPU is less than $1 per month.

Hotstar lost 361 Cr in 2020.

While in 2021, loss widens to 600 Cr

Disney+ Hotstar doesn't know how to monetize it properly. The only reason Disney trying to bid heavily is because if they lose IPL rights they know they can't reach the forecast provided by Disney to Wall Street. Disney predicting to reach 230M to 260M subs by 2024.

Disney can forget this if they lose IPL. Wall Street won't treat them nicely, it will be bloodbath like what happened to Netflix last week.
Hotstar pack/bundle with Live cricket sold to top notch due to lower data rates by Jio, launches in Sept 2016. Thanks to Uday Sankar,President of STAR in 2016 predicts this.

Even every OTT platforms have net loss Hotstar, prime video and Netflix, also There is so much difference between subscription Revenue, ad Revenue and net loss. moreover Hotstar still owned by Novi Digital sub company of Star india, also Hotstar still acquires contents from parent Disney Studios and Disney Plus.

Not entirely true.

Netflix India reported net profit in both 2020 & 2021.

2020, a profit of 8.92 Cr

2021, profit increased to 10.72 Cr

Again Hotstar management puts subscription nos over a profitable business model is why they should stay away from overpriced sports rights.

even Amazon and Netflix too deals with telecom/broadband companies to provide bundle offer, but except Amazon and Hotstar, Netflix nothing offers good indian regional language contents and no one cares Netflix in India if they offer less price too.

In india Subscribing Hotstar not only for IPL ICC or PKL. most of new Hotstar subscribers subscribed because as Hotstar provides contents of Star network shows before on TV, Hotstar specials, Disney plus originals, Disney Studios movies, Marvel Studios and even they localize contents in several indian languages to Reach New Viewers

Hey stories Praveen Kumar you're always underestimating Disney, but here our quotes nothing will change mindset of Star/Hotstar aggressive bid, even I also want Amazon Prime Or Netflix should bid Aggressively IPL streaming Rights to stop monopoly of Star/Hotstar in India

IPL is a safe insurance policy for BCCI. Otherwise they would be in same boat as ICC. Meanwhile BCCI needs to find a broadcaster that actually knows how to sell a sport. Domestic cricket has potential to gain a big fan following. Only if Neo and Star actually knew how to promote it. Sony seems like the perfect home for BCCI.
No bro if Every team become strong then rating will get improved for other team matches. Current trend is on that way. We can see Southafrica,Srilanka,Pakistan On thereway to regaining there dominance. Many of us Slammed indias perfomance in South africa. But we missed southafricas comeback in that. They had played ODis without rabada, nortje still they manages to win the series. Even they had win 4out of 5matches in T20WC that to in Slow UAE pitches..

Netflix also comes with bundled mobile or broadband packs but they are given for Premium Pack users that's why it doesn't affect ARPU.

While Hotstar is given to every basic data pack with no Premium programming makes it easily replaceable. Like you said Star linear channel programs are attracting audience but not necessarily long term subscribers. If you strip away the Hotstar from mobile recharge pack 40-60% won't even try to subscribe to it.

No one cares about Netflix? Really? Just because some sites report it like that?
Total no. of broadband subscribers: 20 million
Netflix India: 6M

It's a premium service so the total addressable market (TAM) is obviously going to be smaller unlike Hotstar or Zee5. Netflix is already in 30% of the broadband household in India. They are doing fine.

Coming to IPL rights. Everyone going to bid aggressively as it is easy to attract advertisers but the ones who knows to scale and monetize are going to be the winners.
