Mammootty's Raja 2: Here Is An Interesting Update...

Raja 2, the Mammootty starrer which is a sequel to the 2011-released blockbuster movie Pokkiri Raja, is one of the most awaited projects of the year. Here is an interesting update about the Vysakh-directed project.
If the reports are to be true, the team is planning to rope in a senior Bollywood actress, to essay a pivotal role in the movie. According to the sources, Kajol and Preity Zinta have been considered for the roles.

Reportedly, Mammootty will not have a pair in the movie, just like the first part Pokkiri Raja. The senior Bollywood actress is playing a very important role in the movie, which is scripted by Udayakrishna.

Some other sources also suggest that popular actor-director-choreographer Prabhudeva will also be a part of the project. However, the makers are yet to confirm these reports officially.

Recently, director Vysakh had revealed that Raja 2 is not the exact sequel of Pokkiri Raja. Instead, the movie is just the continuation of the central character Raja played by Mammootty.

The team is yet to reveal the rest of the star cast and technical crew of the project. Raja 2 is produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam, the producer of Pulimurugan, under the banner Mulakupadam Films.

Prithviraj's Cameo In Mammootty's Puthan Panam: What Is The Truth?

Prithviraj is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after actors of Mollywood. Recently, the rumour mills had suggested that the makers of Puthan Panam, the Mammootty movie have roped in Prithvi for a cameo appearance.
It was rumoured that Prithviraj is playing his popular character from the National award-winning movie Indian Rupee, Jayaprakash aka JP in Puthan Panam, which was said to be a -spin-off of the 2011-released movie.

However, the sources close to the project brushed off the rumours and confirmed that Prithviraj is not a part of the Ranjith-directed movie. The sources also clarified that the movie is not a spin-off of Indian Rupee, but deals with a fresh subject.

Earlier, Prithviraj had made a cameo appearance in the Mammootty starrer Munnariyippu, which was produced by Ranjith. That is why the gossipmongers started speculating that Prithvi will also be a part of the new Mammootty-Ranjith project.

Indian Rupee, which was also directed by Ranjith, was a turning point in Prithviraj's acting career. The movie, which was a critical and commercial success, went on to bag the National Film Award of 2011, for the Best Malayalam Film.

Puthan Panam, which is said to be a very different thriller, stars Mammootty in the central character Nithyananda Shenoy. The movie, which is scripted by Ranjith himself, will hit the theatres in April.

I Can't Do What Prithviraj Does, Says Mohanlal...

Mohanlal, the complete actor is all set to team up with young actor Prithviraj, for his directorial debut Lucifer. In a recent interview given to a National daily, Mohanlal opened up about working with the young actor.
According to the senior actor, Prithviraj is a talented, sensible youngster who clearly knows what he wants to do. Mohanlal points out that the young actor wanted to be a film-maker from the early stage of his career.

Prithviraj keenly observed cinema and learned the process of film-making, even though he was extremely busy with his acting career. Mohanlal remarks that he can't do what Prithviraj does, as film-making is a tough job.

The actor points out that even he can make films if he gets a good script, talented direction assistants, and a good cinematographer. But all those factors are not enough if you want to be a complete film-maker.

Even though Mohanlal has helped his directors by handling some song and action sequences, he clearly knows that he won't be able to be a dedicated film-maker. Instead, he wants to be free and enjoy the life, when he is not acting.

Mohanlal, who shared his great expectations about Lucifer, stated that he is confident about the talents of director Prithviraj and writer Murali Gopy. The actor also assured that the movie will be an interesting experience for the audiences.

No regulatory authority needed to settle film strike: FEFKA...

The Malayalam film industry continues to stay standstill, after the film exhibitors called for a strike on December 16, 2016.
On Tuesday, the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) had their annual general body meeting, where the strike issue was also discussed. The newly elected general secretary B Unnikrishnan said that while FEFKA cannot comment on a trade issue which involves revenue sharing, they are of the view that both parties should come to a consensus through discussions conducted in a "democratic manner''. "The film industry coming to a standstill is never advisable, as the film watching habit is something which has a flow. If the flow is disrupted, people will lose interest in going to theatres. We have requested everyone to not cut the flow, especially at a time when the movie industry is going through a good phase, perhaps the best in its history," he said.
However, at times, there is no other way than maintain the status quo, he hastens to add. "Our stand in this regard is the same as that of the government, that there should be a consensus. It is usually a common practice to maintain the status quo to give both parties time to rework the terms and conditions."

The only concern of the FEFKA, he says, is the call for a government regulatory authority to solve such issues. "All sectors, all over the world are asking for deregulation and only the film field is vying for regulation. A statutory government body with a bureaucrat as the head will never understand the nitty gritties of the industry and will only create trouble for all concerned. The associations don't seem to understand that they will lose whatever freedom they enjoy now if such an authority comes into power. Why the need for an external agency when you can resolve any issue through discussions," he asks.
While it is true that the industry is going through losses, a sudden decision is impossible in this case, he adds.

No one interested to stop the strike. Even they are happy with other language film release. The state that belongs to that industry is not releasing theirs films. Very shame.

Film strike heading to a resolution?

If the ongoing meeting with producers, exhibitors and distributors is successful, the almost three-week old film strike in Malayalam cinema will come to a close. This time around, however, exhibitor's federation president Liberty Basheer won't be included in the meeting. Grapevine says that all parties involved want the strike to end somehow, except Liberty Basheer, who is stubbornly holding on to the new demand, 50% of the profits from theatres.
For the past three weeks, no Malayalam films have released in Kerala, neither have any new films started production. While Mohanlal starrer Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol and Dulquer starrer Jomonte Suvishengal are in the pipeline, Aamir Khan's Dangal was released widely across the State.
