So finally, the change has happened. An epic movie which was managed so well by SPN has finally moved to Disney-Star.

DDLJ and SPN's 25th anniversary coincided last year in 2020. After getting managed well by SPN and celebrating its 25th anniversary along with SPN, the movie finally bids adieu to SPN.

Change has to happen and hopefully Disney-Star manages the movie well by providing good PQ and AQ.

Sony lost another gem (movie library from YRF) after IPL to the same network.

Losing IPL was a benefit for Sony. Yes, Sony’s pre-show coverage (Extraaa Innings T20) was far better than Star’s. But this meant Sony has a greater budget to allocate to other sports and major events like Euro, Copa and Olympics. For Star on the other hand the IPL is a huge liability at times. Star Sports barely shows anything except cricket and some football.

Hindi Movies is a gain for Star and a loss for Sony (especially YRF). But for sports, Sony wins and Star loses badly.

Yes agree the pre and most match shows of Sony were far better, but the overall buildup for the tournament, individual squad analysis are better with star.
Even individual team programs like knight club, MI tv, etc help in the overall programming.
So even though I was initially sceptical, but overall star has managed ipl well.
How profitable it has been for them acquiring at such a high price is another question.
