Supreme Court is complicating the matters. The one who has the exclusive rights should only be allowed to broadcast unless they themselves willingly share the rights with someone else. Whole world mocks at us on how its difficult to do business in India. This sends a wrong signal.

An Ordinance was passed in the year 2000 that all indian matches will b shown in dd national also.
so b4 purchasing the rights, star sports knew that if they ll purchase or acquire the rights, they have to mandatory share it with DD channel.
so we cannot say that it is dd who is doing something wrong.
each n every broadcaster know that every indian matches will b shared with dd also.
whether it was neo channels or ten channels or sony channels or star sports channels.

The Supreme Court has sought Prasar
Bharati’s response on Star Sports’ suggestion of
carrying live feed of ICC Cricket World Cup
matches on a separate channel which is
available only to the pubcaster’s terrestrial and
Freedish subscribers.

Star has contended that the arrangement is
similar to what Doordarshan did with Ten Sports
for the Commonwealth Games telecast.
Star has also suggested that DD should run a
scroll on that channel stating that private cable
and DTH operators should not carry this feed.
The matter has been posted for hearing on 19
February. The interim arrangement allowing DD
to share feed with private distribution platforms
will continue.

I know this, I am talking about the sense of this ordinance. There are too many archiac laws which needs to be scrapped even Modi govt agreed to it. simple example is for satellite space you need to go via ISRO see what it has done to DTH industry. stupid laws needs to be changed and star sports is fighting for it.

The coverage of DD -National is very bad. For instance, whenever commentary changes from Hindi to English we get no information. But this is not the case with Star, Neo, Ten or Sony. Whenever there is any change of commentators / commentary we are informed first. Then, the pre, mid & post match show Fourth Umpire is no longer hosted by Raman Bhanot. Dr. Narottam Puri, the current host is unable to make it interesting compared to Raman Bhanot. Then again the panel of experts only include ex cricketers of India and no other foreigners are there. Then, the fourth umpire, goes for frequent ad breaks without even any prior information. I think DD should improve their standards. What say others ?

DD doing like this for last 20 yrs (from 1996 world cup). No improvement till now. Don't expect any change in future.
