How did you know the NCF charges in the previous regime? There was no such declaration from the DPOs!
In DTH, they charges Rs.99/- as base pack for FTA channels includes NCF+GST (approx.Rs.80/-+GST)

Curated packs have NCF around 80rs, so i assume that it will remain 80 even if i add any no. of channels. Right?
SUN never declared NCF as 80 for curated packs.
The NCF is still 130, only because we add SUN channels price to pack total, we feel the NCF as 80.
On the other hand, we could count SUN channels are free in curated packs.

We needed to add a mandatory add-on for around 60 rupees, apart from the 99 base pack (There was a bug in Airtel, to bypass this, but it wasn't official). And there was no need to declare anything called NCF, in the old regime. The deals were happening in dark, and the consumer never knew what was the actual channel price and what goes to the DPO!

Now that everything happens under light. Prices have gone up. Even if changes happen in March. We still aren't getting cheap prices we were getting 12 months back.

Can anyone tell me who were affected with shady under the table deals? Broadcasters, DPOs, Advertisers, Customers or Government? Other than TRAI chairman most people seems unhappy to me.

in 2017, I subscribed to base99 + Bengali Free Lifetime pack = total rs.99/month , also added MegaHD (93) pack with that to get almost everything in HD @ just 192/m!!
I even made a video on Youtube of this bug in late 2017.

this bug was there in DishTV too, but then they fixed that.

It's simple and clear that after this NTO 2020, TV channel price are going to increase more if you select channels from ala carte or bouquets. But if your take curated pack by MSO then it's going to cost less because they are offering huge discounts on NCF. And there are no discount cap on curated pack or ncf..

If Trai even limit that again then you have to pay more and some channels which have low demands and trp are going to shutdown...

We got all telugu channels for Rs.169/- incl.GST. (Rs.99+Rs.70 add-on). Now we have shell out Rs.286/- for Telugu.

Exactly, like you don't get cheap prices when you buy from a genuine store instead of those who sell goods without any bill! Still, the prices have gone down significantly for al-a-carte (Example, Star Sports HD channels), compared to the DPO prices in the old regime, and they should go further down with the latest amendments. The problem was with the GEC channels, the broadcasters should never have made all of them ₹19. Let's see what they do now.

Yes, the first version of NTO was anti-consumer, as it didn't have the defining rule to relate al-a-carte and bouquets. Though it brought transparency into the system and brought more GST to the Govt, more revenue to the broadcasters, standard monthly income to the DPOs, Consumers were severely affected due to the lack of this fundamental relation. Now that they have corrected this (To an extent), it should also benefit the Consumers. However, as we can see, broadcasters are completely against implementing these amendments, as they have got used to the huge money in-flow in the last one year or so. They would try in all the possible ways to stop these amendments from being implemented.
