Voted for no using common sense as the prices of lower priced channels is bound to increased. I don't want broadcasters to shut down channels catering to different audiences for the sake of selling their flagship channels. Let the tariff be how it is. Only thing TRAI should do is reduce NCF. Giving relief to customers. I don't give a sh#t about some odd number cable operators with low subscribers count when majority of people are bound to get relieved in their huge cable/dth bills. They can invest in some other business. Government wasn't so sensible thinking about 2600 trees in Aarey Colony. So they shouldn't do the same on small number of cable operators.

Exactly, like you don't get cheap prices when you buy from a genuine store instead of those who sell goods without any bill! Still, the prices have gone down significantly for al-a-carte (Example, Star Sports HD channels), compared to the DPO prices in the old regime, and they should go further down with the latest amendments. The problem was with the GEC channels, the broadcasters should never have made all of them ₹19. Let's see what they do now.

Yes, the first version of NTO was anti-consumer, as it didn't have the defining rule to relate al-a-carte and bouquets. Though it brought transparency into the system and brought more GST to the Govt, more revenue to the broadcasters, standard monthly income to the DPOs, Consumers were severely affected due to the lack of this fundamental relation. Now that they have corrected this (To an extent), it should also benefit the Consumers. However, as we can see, broadcasters are completely against implementing these amendments, as they have got used to the huge money in-flow in the last one year or so. They would try in all the possible ways to stop these amendments from being implemented.
Advertising is heavily affected on niche channels. Almost no brand ads on Sony's Sports and Viacom's English channels. Only showing in house promotion. I don't follow much broadcasters. I can assure you it's badly affected them as well. Hence, price reduction is a bad decision. TV channels already had to compete against OTT. Now they have to be desperate for advertising as well. Low subscription revenues plus lack of advertising interested will result in shutdown.

before 2018, GEC & Movie channels are available under 200 (which customers like me DON'T watch, but family does). I requested DPOs many times to create a base pack that w/o any GEC channels, they NEVER CARED!..
Now after 2018, GEC & Movie channel's price increased, BUT the English, Sports, Infotainment, channel's price reduced! helping customers like me who watch these genres.

It's no different than saying, "i want my food for me to eat, i don't care about others if they will eat or die." It's not only unethical but also inhuman. Please show part of the mercy we show towards 2600 trees.

We missed Tour De France, Copa America Cup and La Liga in 2019 from tv because of low subscription revenue and lack of advertising interest. Broadcasters couldn't just make profit off these events as the rights kept getting expensive.

I am crying after reading this.. I had to buy a camera from a local store for Rs 25000 without bill which was 26K from Canon Showroom. But I can't go directly to service center within warranty period if i need to because i have no purchase proof like VAT Bill.

Common interest should be respected. If government is worried. They can set up businesses for small amount of people affected.

We are indeed talking about common interest. Majority of the 1.2 billion people still live in villages in India. Number of small villages is way higher than number of cities, towns in our country. If rules are formed considering only cities and towns, what happens to those who live and operate businesses in villages.

Think beyond our home. Our street. Our city. There's a bigger world outside of it.
