TRAI is wasting time by porviding such extensions to DTH and LCO. why they keep on chanting 29th December then. there was sufficient time till 28th for every service provider to change their bae packs etc.

True that. Also going by the past, I will not be surprised if nothing happens till 31st January. Then suddenly everyone will wake up and ask for more time.

This 1 month is max time, if any DPO wants to finish by 3 days they can do it. I believe DTH will finish as early as possible.

TRAI chalks out one-month migration plan with broadcasters, DPOs

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has worked out a migration plan with broadcasters and distribution platform operators (DPOs) to ensure that the end consumer is not inconvenienced while migrating to the new tariff regime.

As per the plan, the DPOs will collect the details of the channels and the bouquets that the subscribers want to subscribe to. The channels and packs selected by the customer will be activated from 1 February. In the meantime, the consumer will continue to get all the channels that they currently receive from the DPO.

But TRAI also filed SLP (seeking details on 15% discount cap.) very lately, just before Supreme court vacation.

After this order of Supreme Court, a lot of channels will go in a big loss and might close. this is the only reason Star Network is fighting hard because now they can no more blackmail any DTH/Cable TV provider. Other channels from other networks will also go in big loss. This new TRAI rule is a killer for channels with low viewership

It's not postponded.
Earlier many websites were spreading false news that if we'll not select our channels by 29 Dec then there'll be blackout of channels. So, TRAI has just clarified that till 31 January you've to provide channels & it's a deadline by which customers have to select channels & if they don't then there'll be blackout of channels.
New tarrif will be applicable from tomorrow only. If you want then you can select channels tomorrow also.
