I remember reading in TRAI Tariff Order that operators r free to provide channels on a-la-carte basis at a price lower than MRP declared by broadcasters. How will this exactly work? If operator decides to give us channels at lower price then will broadcaster accept it? Also if it will work with mutual agreement then won't it then lead to unequal competition ?

The price mentioned in broadcaster website are all MRP and nobody purchase anything on MRP. That's why Broadcasters have given different incentives/discounts in their agreement based on different things like penetration of chs, LCN position etc so DPO will always get atleast 30% discount if we go by official new agreement. Then comes DPO's bargaining power

If DTHs provide Alacarte channels less than MRP then its loss for them only. All DTHs will provide Alacarte channels rate as per published broadcasters MRP.

But DTHs will get good discount on broadcaster bouquets due to LCNs arrangements, subscribers etc... Here DTHs can make their own bouquets at very affordable prices.

Bro not get any single channel. It's a group of channels. Only we can buy south pack or Kannada Telugu pack
No zee keralam is available for rs 0.10 in ala carte no need to subscribe pack

If all DTH charges same rate published by broadcasters, then how DTH can compete? For example TS is better in quality of channels, extrafeatures, service, quicker channel addition etc and one other dth(not saying any name) is average or bad in that then how both dths could charge same? What is the role of quality here? Samsung costs more than Lava with same specs.

Brother TRAI Tariff Order does not allow this discount or preferential treatment, it was allowed in current regime where broadcaster can offer channels at lower price to one operator while charge more from another. This is why i asked the above question.

All in all we r unnecessarily getting worried without knowing how all this will translate on ground. Let's wait i am pretty sure most members here and general public will be thanking TRAI and Anish Bhai + BJP supporters will thank the government for it. :)
