If all DTH charges same rate published by broadcasters, then how DTH can compete? For example TS is better in quality of channels, extrafeatures, service, quicker channel addition etc and one other dth(not saying any name) is average or bad in that then how both dths could charge same? What is the role of quality here? Samsung costs more than Lava with same specs.

Revenue does not necessarily come from charging more per subscriber, its also volume game and operators have other sources of revenue too like ads, carriage fee etc.

Also Gopi bro as i have discount can't be given to any opetator on whatever pretext. Now onwards what we pay either in bouquet or a-la-carte basis for pay channels to operators, 20% of that will be distribution fee kept by operator + additional network capacity fee will be charged as charted out for bandwidth consumption . Not only this any operator can't charge carriage fee from a pay channel if it's penetration is more than 20% , also from FTA channels carriage fee is capped at 0.20 paisa per subscriber

“network capacity fee” means the amount, excluding taxes, payable by a
subscriber to the distributor of television channels for distribution network
capacity subscribed by that subscriber to receive the signals of subscribed
television channels and it does not include subscription fee for pay channel
It was further proposed that distributors of television channels would charge a
monthly rental amount of maximum Rs. 130/- (excluding taxes) per month from a
subscriber for subscribing a network capacity of 100 SD channels. Distributors would be
permitted to form their own bouquets by including only a-la-carte pay channels of
different broadcasters. It was also proposed that within the capacity of 100 SD channels, in
addition to channels mandatorily provided to subscribers as notified by the Central
Government, a subscriber would be free to choose any free-to-air channel, pay channel,
premium channel or bouquet of channels offered by the broadcasters or bouquet of
channels offered by the distributor of television channels.
Most of cable mso distributor network capacity fee is max sd is 0.20 and hd 0.40 tax extra.
100 × capacity fee (0.20 )= 20+ tax

Brother TRAI Tariff Order does not allow this discount or preferential treatment, it was allowed in current regime where broadcaster can offer channels at lower price to one operator while charge more from another. This is why i asked the above question.

All in all we r unnecessarily getting worried without knowing how all this will translate on ground. Let's wait i am pretty sure most members here and general public will be thanking TRAI and Anish Bhai + BJP supporters will thank the government for it. :)
As @Sarkar bro mentioned, all prices are MRP's, DPO's can get for less price as well as sell below MRP, And yes every broadcaster has mentioned incentives offered by them in the carraige agreement according to the new tariff regime as well.

Only BJP supporters ? Congress supporters want increase in TV tariff ?

Now regarding discount, Broadcasters tweak agreement, now same discount for all DPO so no preferential treatment. Thus no violation of tariff order

The whole purpose of bringing new regulation was to give subscribers power to choose channels at affordable price and secondly not let broadcasters bundle popular + non popular channels.

Already bcoz of 15% cap rule not being implemented, broadcasters r forcing us to buy bouquet as a-la-carte price r still high, if as per ur reasoning even discounts r allowed then what was the need of bringing in this TRAI Order?

Do u mean that just to bring stanalone channel rates below Rs. 19 TRAI fought this battle? Brother previously too we were paying less in bouquet bcoz of discounts, incentives rolled out and TRAI clearly wanted this to stop as it encouraged unfair competition. Fixed deal process was banned bcoz of this itself. Now broadcasters can't charge different amount from any operator

Party comment was made in a light hearted manner. All will be happy with lower prices.

Coming to discount, it is not allowed brother. Giving special LCN or giving specific channels wider reach etc. comes under Preferential treatment which is not allowed anymore, distributor is merely a vendor now to supply signals and get share of revenue.

And remember all friends star values pack not only 49 rs taxes extra applicable. Watch there website to clear that. Means much more money paid

I think everything here is guess/interpretation of TRAI rule as per our thinking and actual picture will get cleared on 29th December only and we should wait.
