Doordarshan’s channel for nostalgia DD Retro is now available on Direct to Home (DTH) platforms Airtel Digital TV, Sun Direct and Fastway. Other DTH and operators are yet to add the channel on their platforms.
Sun Direct on Monday added DD Retro on its platform via DD Free Dish. Sun Direct has placed the channel on LCN 350 between Bflix Movies and MTV.
Airtel Digital earlier today has also added the channel on its platform. Airtel has placed the channel on LCN 154.
Prasar Bharati had earlier on Tuesday requested DTH and Cable operators to air the channel and released the satellite availability of DD Retro. DD Retro can be downlinked by DTH and cable operators from GSAT 18.
The public broadcaster also requested DTH and cable operators to place the channel on their platforms in the GEC genre for the benefit of the viewer. Tata Sky, Dish TV, and d2h are yet to heed the broadcaster’s request.
Sun Direct, DD Free Dish, and Dish TV all use GSAT 15. Sun Direct has added the channel via DD Free Dish since it is on the same satellite whereas Dish TV is yet to do the same. The channel was earlier last week available on Dish TV through DD Free Dish at LCN 2008 as Test 505 when Prasar Bharati was testing it.
It remains to be seen if Tata Sky, d2h, and Dish TV along with other cable operators will add DD Retro or not. DD Retro has been showcasing Doordarshan archives including Shaktimaan, Sankat Mochan Hanuman, Mahabharat, Chanakya, Upanishad Ganga, Dekh Bhai Dekh, and Buniyaad.
