Dish TV owned Direct to Home (DTH) operator d2h on Wednesday heeded to its customers request to get Doordarshan’s nostalgia channel DD Retro onboard its platform. DD Retro is now available on d2h at LCN 151.
Interestingly, as of 5 AM today d2h parent Dish TV itself hasn’t added the channel on its platform yet making it the lone DTH operator to not carry DD Retro. Sun Direct was the first private DTH operator to add the channel through DD Free Dish which was followed by Airtel Digital TV and Tata Sky subsequently. d2h has now joined the bandwagon.
DD Retro now has a wide reach on DTH platforms. Many DPOs, however, are yet to add the channel on their platforms from the looks of it.
Ravi Chauhan, a GTPL Hathway customer in Ahmedabad yesterday requested GTPL Hathway for the addition of the channel on its platform. He claimed that a GTPL official had told him that they had not received any direction from Doordarshan or I&B Ministry to air the channel. We came across many more GTPL users on Twitter asking for the addition of DD Retro. Dish TV users have been requesting a lot on Twitter for DD Retro.
DD Retro is soon going to air Mahabharat on its channel. Baaje Payal, Sankar Mochan Hanuman, Circus, Rajani, Chanakya, Sai Baba Tere Hazaron Haath, Byomkesh Bakshi, Buniyaad, Dekh Bhai Dekh, The Jungle Book, Shrimaan Shrimathi, and Shri Krishna are among the shows in the programming lineup of DD Retro.
