MIB issues permission to 5 News TV channels and 1 Non-News TV channel in February 2022
Total number of permitted satellite TV channels back to 900+ mark as per MIB submission to the Cabinet.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) last month issued permission in respect of 5 News TV channels and 1 Non-News TV channel, as per the significant activities of the Ministry submitted to the Cabinet for the month of February 2022.
The total number of permitted satellite TV channels for up-linking and downlinking in India as of 28th February 2022 was 902, up from 896 as of 31st January 2022 owing to the grant of channel licensing in respect of 6 TV channels during the last month.
The Ministry in January 2022 had issued permission in respect of 2 Non-News TV channels and cancelled/surrendered 4 News and 9 Non-News and Current Affairs TV channels during the month.
The names of the TV channels granted channel licensing during the previous month isn’t currently available in the public domain from the Ministry’s side.
In the recent past, the Ministry has granted fresh TV channel licensing to Reverb, iCast, Hawa Mahal, Treble, Manoranjan Prime, FoodXP, Zee Delhi NCR Haryana, Tribe Plus, Lokshahi Marathi, Sangaman TV, News Tamil 24*7 Meiporul Kanbathu Arivu, BS TV, AMV Network, Sambhav TV, and TV 27 News.
