Direct to Home (DTH) operator Tata Sky has reduced the MRP of Sony Pictures Network India (SPNI) Happy India Packs which have been impacted by channel shutdowns. SPNI had reduced the MRP of 24 Happy India Packs after the shutdown of Sony MIX, Sony ESPN, and Sony ESPN HD. Tata Sky had earlier stated it was unable to pass on the new revised rates in April due to the lockdown.
According to the listings on the Tata Sky website and Tata Sky self-care, the MRP of 24 SPNI Happy India packs is now updated as per the revised price by SPNI. The revised DRP was effective April 1 however Tata Sky was unable to incorporate the reduced prices of the impacted Sony packs and corresponding Tata Sky packs in its systems due to the national lockdown.
DreamDTH had earlier in April reported Tata Sky’s announcement to pass on the benefit of reduced prices of the impacted packs as credits to the Tata Sky account. Whether the same was credited for April month is unknown. We asked the Tata Sky customer team if there was any update on the same to which they said that there was no update regarding the same at this point of time.
SPNI had reduced the prices of 24 existing bouquets that have been affected by the shutdown of Sony MIX, Sony ESPN, and Sony ESPN HD. The minimum price reduction on a bouquet is Rs 0.5 while the maximum reduction is Rs 5.2. The new price is effective from April 1, 2020.
SPNI had shutdown Sony MIX, Sony ESPN, and Sony ESPN HD on 31st March as part of the realignment of its channel offerings. Whether other distribution platform operators (DPOs) have updated SPNI Happy India Packs revised price or not is unknown since they haven’t announced the same on their website.
