Then let them charge Star Sports 1 at 100 or 150. But then as per TRAI order, they cannot keep that channel in any bouquet.
If Star thinks that their channel is worth it, let them take that risk. Why should any authority stop it? In USA, HBO is like that. Its price is much higher than any other channel. Only people who want to watch programs like Game of Thrones will subscribe to it. Others will torrent their way around.
Actually these broadcasters like Star/Sun/etc know that they do not have the appealing content to make users pay more. As per old rules, they still charged high. Now, their game is over. You'll see that one by one all channels will reduce their prices to single digits soon, if 15% rule is implemented.

What I meant to say is the cricket showing channel prices won't go below ₹19

All we can do is, not to subscribe the channels, in a weak form of protest, and see if that will have any impact on the broadcasters!

Choices are very limited
We watch most of News/Sports/Music and &TV/SAB just half n hour each, Most of time we enjoy DTH Radio
Now even to get this we have to paly much more than what we are paying today as All Sports South subscriber.
And if we decline to subscribe anything then our neck is in service providers hand.

Mostly from Sun, Star and Zee networks. I think the others have priced their channels/bouquets reasonable, for example Times and Discovery!

It's actually quite shocking to see Time of India publishing such an article, having pay channels from their own network!!

Give them benefit of doubt as TRAI issued vague notifications in Legal language that's too in in English Only that's too not on public platform
On public platforms they fooled common many with lie and mischievous explanation.

If you won't decide devil TRAI gave them liberty to decide everything on your behalf based on your current pack/subscription.
So no escape unless you explicitly gave up some channels and create your own pack !!

I don't think TRAI gave that liberty to DPOs. If the users don't exercise their options by Feb 1st, DPOs will have to black out pay channels and only collect 153 per month. At max, they can offer 100 FTA channels of their own choice. They simply cannot offer pay channels of their choice to anyone. Customer will then choose the pay channels he want. But yes, there is a problem, they might end up paying for additional NCF slab, as they may not have any idea of all these things. This IS a MESS!!

11. What if annual subscription charges are paid by a subscriber in advance? In case a subscriber has availed any scheme with advance charges paid for future lock-in period like an annual plan the distributor shall continue to provide services for such committed period without any increase in price / charges and without altering the other terms of subscription. The distributors cannot make any changes that entails any disadvantage to the subscriber in such cases. However, if the subscriber wants to switch over to a new package after 1st February, 2019 then the proportional balance amount of existing package as on the date of switch over may be adjusted for the new package prices after 1st February, 2019.

5. What if option is not exercised by me, till 31.1.2019? In case option is not exercised by the consumer, he may be put on the Basic Service Tier pack. The Distribution Platform Owner (Multi System Provider/DTH provider) may adopt appropriate methods to seek consumer options for the Pay Channels or only free to air channels may be continued and pay channels may get disrupted.
