the twitter post is in 2012. Tatasky is also think that gsat 10 is an additional capacity..thats why they mentioned like that.

But isro offerd them as replacement capacity.so how it is useful for them..

Dino, Gsat 10 may not be a replacement for Unsat 4a. But it is a replacement satellite for tatasky as per this article.

Dino you are right. Tatasky applied for a replacement satellite. ISRO was offering GSat as replacement. Got it?

The "certain benefits" which were not extended to other DTH service providers were having an open ended commitment for satellite capacity with the provision for additional transponder capacity whereas in other agreement, the commitment for satellite capacity was for the period of lease only, the report said.

"DoS launched GSAT 10 satellite in order to swap with capacity allocated to Tata Sky on INSAT 4A, which was functioning with reduced power. Tata Sky subsequently declined the proposal.

not only tatasky, all of us thought that gsat 10 is for additional capacity in 2012. But in 2013 isro offerd it as replacement capacity.also tp cost is very high.82.8 cr for 12tps. What is the use of this if it is for replacement.

Suppose isro offered them as additional tps, then ts can take them and replacement capacity will be given later by isro.

This clearly shows that isro is not in a position to provide additional ku tps

It is not a replacement satellite, i have given enough proof. So u think that Tata Sky was so foolish that all these years they waited for GSAT10 knowing that these r not additional transponders but a replacement and they wasted all these years. That is not true , they knew it all along that transponders from GSAT10 will be additional transponders and it was pending since 2009. Other DTH operators added transponders, moved to foreign satellite, what made Tata Sky stick to doing nothing, they haven't even completed MPEG4 Migration.

The reality is that Tata Sky does not want to invest more in getting additional transponders and they have just one excuse that ''e don't have bandwidth'' for 4 years now

For ur Info Tata Sky applied for new transponders in 2007 and GSAT10 was supposed to launch in 2009 and it was not a replacement satellite for GSAT10, Tata Sky clearly stated that we will add new channels once we get new transponders from GSAT10. HERE IS THE PROOF

Tata Sky was all around telling that as soon as GSAT10 is launched we will launch new channels and its CEO was saying that we have been waiting for new satellite launch since 5 years. So tell me when Tata Sky was offered GSAT10 , why did they refuse it. This logic that you are spreading that ISRO would have taken back Insat 4A if GSAT10 would have been given is wrong.

Also none of have answered why Tata Sky has not completed MPEG4 Migration, why r they delaying it when the CEO himself said that it will be compelted by June-July 2014 in an interview in mid 2013.

All this shows that Tata Sky does not have intention to increase bandwidth or channels, they will again give a a lollypop by adding few channels after many months of wait and tell that we r adding channels

Yes i agree with u that in 2007 tatasky said they will add new channels after the launch of gsat-10 coz they hv applied for new transpoders

so they not moved to another foreign satelite but waited for gsat-10

but after d launch isro offered them a replacement offer instead of what tatasky has applied for

so they refused for gsat-10

tell me one thing if you are living in a 1 room set n u hv applied for another 2 room set.. But after few days dealar said to you that we r giving you a one room set instead of 2 room set but d condition is that u hv to leave that one room set in which u r currently living.

So will u go for that deal?
