Aanandam Movie Review...!
be59cc5d17d295065071f85506d4f394.jpg

Story: Crushes, courtships, fun and frolic in the life of a few first-year engineering students with fruity dreams, lined up over a four-day industrial visit trip form the thread of Aanandam.

Review: It’s said that time adds gloss to the past, but say campus days and almost everyone would go ‘those were the best days of my life!’ Even for the crop that has spent the times with stressful periods of academics, unrequited love and self-esteem issues, there would be happy episodes that flashback as their quintessential college times. Aanandam is all about such a chapter, in the life of a few students.

Akshay, Kuppy, Gautham, Varun, Diya, Devika and Darsana are classmates, friends and partners in crime. Aanandam tells the tale of an industrial visit they had, alongside the rest of the batch and teachers. The film begins on the beaten track introducing each of the characters as the campus stereotypes - funny guys, Romeos, serious types, and the like. The movie takes a cruise through a few perfectly captured beautiful locales.

The story has an average first half, a salt n pepper second half with some smashing music, interesting-but-expected cameos and moments that make you reminisce your college days. Director Ganesh Raj deserves to be appreciated for taking aboard a cluster of fresh faces in his debut venture. Not that they set the screen ablaze from the word go, but the performances come across as earnest and endearing, as the movie reels ahead.

Aanandam is all about fresh faces, both in cast and crew, but can’t say that it exudes a lot of ‘newness’ as far as the story, characters or the feel in itself is concerned. But it has enough to entice its target viewers – the college kids. The film can evoke at least a few memories for everyone, especially those who are engineers!

Shine Tom took lessons from a cardiac surgeon...

After playing a series of goon roles in Annayum Rasoolum, Kammatipaadam and Ann Maria Kalippilaanu, Shine Tom Chacko has decided to try something different. He will next be seen as a cardiac surgeon in debutant Arun's movie Kariyila. And the actor confesses that he had to do a lot of homework to do justice to the role.
"I play a cardiologist named Kishore. Mine is a supporting role and the central character of the film is played by James and Alice fame Joby. The film talks about his relationship with his daughter enacted by Sandra Joseph, who played Dulquer's teenage girlfriend in Kammatipaadam. My character is close to the family," Shine says, adding that the daughter suffers from heart-related ailments. "I give them medical and emotional support."
Shine admits that he had to be extra careful to make the role perfect. "Unlike the other roles I have essayed so far, this was a sophisticated one and it was a challenge. I couldn't be my usual carefree self and had to be a bit refined and cautious of my body language," he says.
The Ithihasa actor even did some research about cardiology. "The character has to use a lot of medical terms and also do a few medical procedures. So I consulted a cardiac surgeon and took some lessons from her. I would say, I now know a little about the technical side of the heart and blood vessels, like how the heart functions and what is superior vena cava and inferior vena cava," he says.
Indrans, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sudheer Karamana and Srinda play other roles in the film, which was shot in Trivandrum.
Shine also has a few other projects in his kitty including the Prithviraj and Indrajith starrer Tiyaan written by Murali Gopy, where he plays a close associate to Prithviraj's character.
