Discussion Satellite rights of Hindi movies

if it was the case, then the rights would have been permanent but it has moved to star and later zee.plus it was a huge 85 crore multi picture deal so it is irrespective of law suits
But that deal with Sony was lucky, Hollywood companies in India rely on output deals that's why they didn't make a fuss out of it

All movie channels have phases when they acquire lots of movies in a year,so we shouldnt get too worked up on a channel acquiring many recent movies, all channels have a few years when they acquire most of the biggies like till 2007 sony was an undisputed leader for biggies then in 2008-09 there was a phase of syndication of movies where rights were sold to multiple channels then in 2009-10 colors hoarded up most movies,2011 belonged to star,2012-13 again sony had the biggest movies with star having decent amount in 2012,then 2014-16 again star was the bigger player,2017-18 zee became aggresive,2019 again belonged to star.
So basically all channels have years when they are extra aggresive in acquisition, doesnt mean that will be the new status quo. Sabka time ayega,so stop fighting over your favourite channels

Star is poor with old films besides Sholay and Mughal - E - Azam with most of them being played on SUM. In this case Sony and Zee are miles ahead. Earlier I had watched Criminal, Sadak, Sir on Star at late timings. At least Sony airs it as the 11pm movie where in people watch films
But The Problem Is That Star Doesn't Have Many Old Movies. Sholay, Mughal-E-Azam, Naya Daur(Renewed Recently) Are The Only Prominent Classical Movies Which Star Has, Sholay Is Aired Regularly On Star Gold And Star Gold 2. Mughal-E-Azam Is Mostly Aired On SGS And Sometimes On Star Gold 2 While Naya Daur Has Been Aired Only Once And That Too On Star Utsav Movies
