UTV played quite smart, they knew that their own movie channel does not hold the influence to garner max audience hence outsourced satellite rights of own productions to other broadcasters. But what was brilliant part in all of this was the fact that they kept a condition for having rights of few secondary airings for themselves.

Be it Rowdy Rathore ABCD, Race, Dangal, or others they were able to telecast it on UTV Movies bcoz of this reason. Now with acquuring Star India they will surely reach out to dethroning Zee from top in this genre
As UTV was a minor network then they allowed to air their own movies after premiere. Now I don't think it's possible anymore when they are a part of Star.

Off topic: Zee has the current generation UTV movies. You know Uri, Sonchirya, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota etc.

Now Star India have Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment , Junglee Pictures , Yash Raj films Library movies
Exclusive Satellite Rights Deal with Ajay Devgan and Hrithik Roshan
Also Star India Parent company Walt Disney , Fox Star Studios , UTV motion pictures and UTV movies channel library movies
Soon New Satellite Rights Deal expected With FilmKraft Productions , Vishesh Films and Ram Gopal Varma production movies

I think now Sony will not let rights of Vinod Chopra Productions slip away. This is the only major studio which will be providing to them new mainstream hit movies in coming months , if this contracts ends then so will chance to attract large set of bollywood audience. All they will be left is some new bollywood films with lesser appeal.

As far as T-Series is concerned it may also shift to Star India if they get a good offer is put towards them for acquiring rights. Zee is not option for them bcoz of long standing disputes between them. Lastly even Viacom18 might give movies to Star India on sharing basis.

Good times ahead for us viewers! Star/Disney is all prepared to serve bollywood fans in best possible manner. Eagerly looking forward to watching movies like Fan, Swades, New York, Dostana, Fanaa, Salaam Namaste etc.
