Dear all,

One of my friend was not using his adtv stb for more than 6 months now. Initially he kept receiving calls telling him to recharge otherwise stb will be blocked. Now he has changed the flat and is using adtv dvr new connection.

He got threat sms saying legal action will be taken against him if he does not submit stb to a given location.

Have you experienced anything of this sort?

From my experience tata sky or dishtv never threatens deactive customers.

If u r not ready to recharge for a long time adtv will freeze your ID,It's sure.
But legal action ?, i dont know....

Ya freezing id i could have understood. But legal action is new to me.

I also got a legal notice mail from Airtel on giving the broadband dues.
I gave it cause its not worth fighting with them at that time though it was there mistake... :)

If anytime it comes on me for returning the DTH STB etc.. I will not care for being sued.. :)

I think adtv has stated return policy on their contract that customer signs. I once called adtv to clarify, they informed that customer will have to return all equipments. Other DTH may have the same policy but dont insist on return of equipment as customer actually pays for the same.

BTW anyone who has not rechared for long time & faced legal action or got sued by ADTV for not returning equipments?

It's better to return the equipment than getting sued(Lawyer fees etc) :lol :lol

I don't think it is matter. Don't worry .no body will touch you.tell them that your equipment burn to Ashes

Why Bro...Customers are actually paying the cost of equipment (even though things may be different on signed contract) considering market price of the equipment.
I dont think ADTV will actually sue customer although they may threaten him & may send someone to collect it sighting contract. No other DTH is doing this irrespective of contracts.
Sueing customer will give undue publicity to ADTV & then Trai/govt may be forced to come forward to force DTH.
Its better to raise voice & let Trai/govt force DTH to change contract terms. Trai is not going to it unless people complain about it.
Lease contract may be suitable if customer is given equipments on some monthly lease & then if customer wants to stop subscription then DTH can collect equipment. Such agreements are followed by DTH in many countries but in India, customer is forced to pay for equipment at market price & that to on lease contract.:-/
DTH keeps complaining that they are procuring STBs at much higher price than they are selling it to customer but actually they may be simply lying as they want to make profit or they are selling it at concessional rate in rural area & compensating it by charging more to urban users.

I have no issues again on any threat/legal notice on any postpaid connection. I get a bill (right or wrong) and i need to pay. But how come on prepaid someone ask me to recharge and ask me 100 times and then send threat sms/email. Really amazing.
