All of you should go back in this thread and read the below post. Whatever were the intentions of Tata Sky, everything they wrote was true. And even Airtel warned of higher prices for Max HD, as high as around 1100. What a nightmare this whole thing has become for us!

Siva bhai, you got this completely wrong. Tata Sky had just one intention which was to not let TRAI Tariff Order be implemented or more so in its original form. Tata Sky did not want subscribers to be given choice to opt for affordable channels on individual basis, they weren't in favour of carriage fee being regulated or even all operators getting a fair deal from broadcasters.
Tata Sky just wanted the old system to continue where they would get fixed deals at lower price bcoz of strong subscriber base, force all channels thru bouquet system onto us, make HD subscribers too unnecessarily pay for SD channels, keep a-la-carte rates inflated so that it's off everyone's reach and a impractical option , get high carriage fee revenue from FTA channels etc.
Infact it is bcoz of Tata Sky, Star India's petition that maximum 15% discount cap on bouquet rule was struck down and hence we again landed in a situation where one needs to pay for all channels clubbed together.
Lastly do not forget when Sony Channels were dropped they were offering only 1 or 2 rupees refund for each of those while they charge multiple times more from us.
Ofcourse when right now Tata Sky provides Movies Now SD at Rs. 50/month but after new regime comes into effect Times Group will offer all HD channels at just 20/month to us then it would not leave the former a sweet taste.
@dino29 bro, I didn't say Tata Sky had good intentions, but whatever they wrote in that post is absolutely true. This will be a nightmare for the consumers.
Without the 15 percent rule in place, there will be very small difference even for TS users in terms of monthly charges and huge difference for other users, especially Airtel/Sun.
And what do you say about Airtel's comment in that post? They said Max HD which was provided by them for 225 per month was going to cost more than 1100 rupees.
All I'm saying is, TRAI should either implement the total order i.e. with 15 percent rule in place else shouldn't implement at all. This half baked implementation is hurting consumers (Especially non TS), and TRAI delaying the clarification for the rule in SC raises doubts over their intentions. Are they helping consumers or broadcasters!!
I fail to understand what's exactly changing for the consumer here except for the increase in monthly charges for much less number of channels and that too with a tedious exercise of choosing them! Horrible stuff!!
Now I feel there is no need of any alterations in Television sector. Because we have 6+ dth services and cable with diverse rates.People who are willing to pay more can go with tatasky etc. If we want channels at low cost can choose Sun/airtel or cable connection. Nobody is forcing to take a particular connection. Now this rule seems trapping all people to pay almost same cost.
I really feel for the local cable operators. They are the worst hit. They have to share Rs 130 with MSO in 55:45 ratio. While DTH operators are keeping 100%. Same is applicable for pay channels as well. Unfair advantage to DTH.
Trai rule
Expectation:When I kick out unwanted channels my current price will reduce accordingly k:
Reality :When I half choosed my favourite channels it already crossed the current cost:verysad:
Hope the situation changes

Cost of DTH transmission is also higher. Transponder rent per year is around 8 crore. So if a DTH has 24 transponder to carry 600 chs then their total cost on transponder is around 150-170 crore per year. No local cable operator spend that much money on his business per year.
