MUMBAI: Viacom18 is on a growth path and has been launching channels across genres and languages. Seeing growth in the English cluster, the company is evaluating expansion in this space, including entry into the English movie channel genre.
Viacom18 head, English and youth entertainment Ferzad Palia said that this is one area that the media company is not currently present in. He feels that there is space in the English genre for more entrants as long as the strategy is correct. “When we launched Colors, we were told that there was no need as the Hindi GEC market was saturated. Last year, when we launched Colors Infinity, we were told that the best of content was already available in the English entertainment space. But in both cases we have made our mark. At the same time, we do not get into areas that we feel are not financially viable.”
