Well, I'm very new to this forum. I'm going to modify a Ku band LNB for microwave transmission, finally to use it as a mini Radar system for educational demonstration.

For my purpose I need an LNB which uses Dielectric Resonator (DRO) as the Local Oscillator. I've read a few articles online about LNBs that they either use DRO or a PLL oscillator and then mixes the LO with received signal using a PIN diode and is fed to the IF amplifier. I've read somewhere that more recent LNBs use an IC that contains a LO and mixer all in one chip thus eliminating the discrete components.

For my purpose the LNB with DRO and discrete stages is all that needed. The single IC LNBs are pretty useless for my purpose. So, I ask you, do you know what technology (DRO or single chip LO & mixer or PLL) is mostly used in a typical LNB? For example, the DishTV FS-8 LNB or the universal Sharp LNB?
