The reach of Discovery Communications India (DCI) newly rebranded Sports channel Eurosport HD has increased on pay Direct to Home (DTH) platforms with the addition on the Airtel Digital TV platform following addition on Tata Sky a week ago.
Airtel Digital TV earlier today added Eurosport HD onboard its DTH platform. Eurosport HD is now available on Airtel Digital TV at LCN 305 after Eurosport SD. The channel can be subscribed at an a-la-carte price of Rs 7.08 per month.
Airtel yesterday listed the channel on its self-care portal along with the a-la-carte price and channel number which was followed by the midnight addition. Eurosport HD is now available on Sun Direct, Tata Sky and Airtel Digital TV.
Sun Direct added the channel back in March when it was broadcasting as ‘DSport HD’. Tata Sky on 20th April added the channel on its platform along with addition on Tata Sky Web Live and Mobile too.
Airtel has now followed suit and become the third DTH operator to add Eurosport HD giving it a wide reach. Dish d2h is the odd one out of the scenario. The DTH operator has been for a long time focusing more on channel removal rather than channel addition.
Discovery had earlier on 17th January informed TRAI about the launch of DSport HD in February. DSport HD launched silently on 17th February 2020. The channel was then later rebranded in March when the I&B Ministry processed its name change application for renaming DSport and DSport HD to Eurosport and Eurosport HD.
The I&B Ministry granted Discovery the approval on 9th March, which was followed with Discovery intimating TRAI on 12th March regarding the rebranding on March 18. Eurosport and Eurosport HD entered India officially on 18th March in a fairly silent manner with social media promotion starting a few weeks later.
